How to play Minesweeper
Minesweeper is a quiet logic puzzle hidden behind a simple grid. Calm Minesweeper makes it friendlier: the squares are big, there is no timer, you never have to guess, and touching a mine does not end your game.
The goal
Open every square that does not hide a mine. When all the safe squares are open, you win.
What the numbers mean
When you open a square, it may show a number. That number tells you how many mines touch that square — above, below, left, right and on the four corners. A square with no number has no mines around it, so the game opens its neighbors for you.
Opening squares
- Tap a square to open it.
Marking mines with flags
- Turn on Flag at the bottom of the screen, then tap a square to put a flag on it. The button has a yellow border while it is on.
- Or simply press and hold a square to flag it.
- Flags are only reminders — they help you keep track of where the mines are.
Opening around a number
When a number already has that many flags next to it, tap the number to open all its other neighbors at once. This saves a lot of tapping. Be sure your flags are right first.
If you hit a mine
In most versions, that is the end. In Calm Minesweeper you simply tap Take it back and carry on. Every board can be solved by reasoning alone, so a mine only means a step needs another look.
Board sizes
Choose Small, Medium or Large. Small is a gentle start; Large gives a longer puzzle. The squares stay big enough to tap comfortably on a phone.
Helpful buttons
- Hint helps you find a safe next step.
- Undo takes back any move.
- Your board saves itself, and there is a new daily puzzle every day.
